Lecturer in Enterprise and Innovation at Salford Business School
Dr Sam is a lecturer in Enterprise and Innovation at Salford Business School. Prior to joining the University of Salford, he was a lecturer in international business at the University of Leeds Business School. He also held a teaching fellowship at the University of Edinburgh Business School after he finished his PhD study. With expertise in digitalisation, international business development, SMEs and innovation, his research findings have paved new paths for SME innovation and strategic planning within the digital, platform, and sharing economy domains. Drawing on empirical research findings from UK SMEs, he has contributed to a fresh understanding and identified employee capability and knowledge as key driving forces for SMEs’ competitive advantages, which were published in a book. His research on anti-trust and industrial policy in the era of digital platform-based firms has been featured in esteemed academic journals. Dr Sam has a successful track record in securing research grants, notably for the project titled ‘The resilience of UK-based SMEs Internationalisation during a series of global incidents: The role of digitalisation in tackling disruptions,’ with project outcomes published in leading journals.
He holds a PhD in Management Science and Business Economics from the University of Edinburgh Business School, an MSc in International Management from the University of Strathclyde, and a BSc in Management and Marketing from the University of Manchester. His recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE) further underscores his expertise and commitment to his field.
