
Professor of Sustainability
Professor Vahid Vahidinasab is Chair in Sustainability at Salford Business School with over two decades of academic and industry experience in research, leadership, and innovation. His work focuses on resilient, self-sustaining communities and businesses, people’s empowerment, and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He has authored over 200 publications, including books, journal articles, and technical reports for both expert and public audiences.
He has led UKRI, Horizon Europe, H2020, and international projects, delivering technical pilots, stakeholder engagement, and community collaborations. His expertise spans AI-driven forecasting, autonomous optimisation, and open-source tools for managing microgrids, local communities, and shared energy assets, including peer-to-peer trading platforms. A Senior Member of IEEE and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he is the past Editor-in-Chief of Springer Smart Grids and Sustainable Energy and currently holds editorial roles with leading IEEE and IET journals. His is the recipient of NTU Vice-Chancellor Research Excellence Award and the IEEE PES Outstanding Engineer Award (2023).
